Semiconductor,
aerospace, optical and advanced batteries are a few of the varied markets
that CERAC serves. CERAC,
inc. has been manufacturing specialty inorganic materials and physical vapor
deposition materials in Milwaukee since 1964 and
has experienced steady growth due to diversity of products and customers. In
January of 2006, CERAC was acquired by Williams
Advanced Materials Inc. and now
operates as a wholly-owned subsidiary. CERAC
markets globally, serving the precision optic, ophthalmic, semiconductor, laser and display
industries with standard and
custom manufactured materials. Specialty
Inorganic (SI) Materials SI
materials are used in the manufacture of semiconductor substrate precursors,
pacemaker batteries, medical detector devices, phosphors and temperature
resistant aerospace coatings, to name only a few applications. Typically sold as powders of well-defined purity, these
materials include small quantity R & D items found in CERAC’s 2000
item signature catalog, as well as bulk quantity specialty compounds. Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) Materials CERAC
is the leading manufacturer of PVD materials for optical applications in North America. These products, sold as either
evaporation materials or sputtering targets, are deposited under vacuum onto
a substrate, producing a thin-film coating with specific optical or physical
properties. Applications for PVD materials range from
anti-reflective coatings on eyeglasses and computer screens to
anti-counterfeit coatings on currency and security documents to infrared
coatings on high-powered CO2 laser optics. CERAC
offers its customers a level of manufacturing flexibility and in-house
technical expertise not available from the competition. Unique integrated manufacturing capabilities enable the company to
control every step of the manufacturing process, from raw material
production through chemical processing and final inspection, so that
customers receive a superior, high-quality end product. The Corporate Technical Support Team at CERAC is an entire department
dedicated to working closely with customers to solve problems and help
determine material requirements specific to their applications. Capabilities
include reactive gas processing, sintering, milling, blending,
solid-liquid-gas reaction systems, hot-pressing, machining, and full
chemical analytical facilities. Over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing
space houses technically advanced processing equipment as well as a
state-of-the-art research lab for product development needs. |
